Environmental Risks & Regulatory Response

We analyze environmental regulations and climate change issues and respond proactively.

Response Strategies for Key Environmental Management Laws and Regulations

CategoryLaws and RegulationsResponse Strategy
Energy and Greenhouse GasesFramework Act on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth for Coping with Climate Crisis · Establish environmental management plans and climate response strategies · Build a GHG emissions inventory and operate a monitoring system · Monitor energy use and conduct conservation campaigns
Resources and Circular EconomyAct on Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources · Establish a resource circulation system and track performance(Sign resource circulation MOUs with partners) · Expand the use of eco-friendly packaging (FCS-certified packaging for door locks)
WasteWaste Control Act · Introduce an environmentally responsible construction waste processing and tracking platform
Noise and VibrationNoise and Vibration Control Act · Respond promptly to and coordinate on noise-related complaints

Climate Change Scenario Analysis

HDC LABS conducted a climate scenario analysis with reference to the TCFD recommendations and KSSB No. 2.The analysis assessed the impact of climate-related transition and physical risks on business operations and financial performance over the short term (within 3 years), medium term (3–10 years), and long term (over 10 years), and identified related risks and opportunities.
Based on the scenario analysis results, HDC LABS identifies climate-related risks and opportunities and establishes and manages response strategies and their financial impacts on business operations.

Climate-Related Risk and Opportunity Analysis and Response Strategies

CategoryTypeImpactKey FactorsFinancial ImpactResponse Strategy
Short TermMedium TermLong Term
RiskPolicy and RegulationMMMStricter carbon neutrality regulations(e.g., expanded G-SEED and ZEB certification requirements)▶ Current: Higher design and construction costs and greater barriers to public-sector contracts▶ Projected: Increased investment in GHG reduction and higher green certification costs· Monitor regulatory changes and analyze their scope of application· Expand eco-friendly equipment and materials· Integrate low-carbon elements early in the design process
RiskTechnologyMMHAdvancement of smart building and AI-based energy management technologies▶ Current: Need to secure relevant technologies and expand R&D investment▶ Projected: Fewer contract opportunities and a weaker market position if technological competitiveness lags· Assess existing technologies and establish response strategies· Advance spatial AIoT solutions
RiskMarket / ReputationLMMGrowing ESG requirements and stricter supply chain evaluation criteria▶ Current: Some investment and bidding restrictions when ESG information is not disclosed▶ Projected: Potential decline in contracts and loss of opportunities· Publish ESG performance reports and disclosures· Establish disclosure processes and strengthen communication· Establish and embed execution of an ESG-based business strategy
RiskPhysical Risk (Acute)MMHIncreasing extreme weather events such as typhoons, floods, heavy rainfall, and droughts▶ Current: Direct losses from equipment and material damage and construction delays▶ Projected: Higher restoration and insurance costs and additional expenses from construction delays· Review construction-site disaster response manuals and evacuation systems· Conduct advance assessments of disaster-prone areas and develop facility risk maps
RiskResource CirculationMMHStricter resource circulation policies and waste management standards▶ Current: Management costs from waste separation and resource circulation activities▶ Projected: Potential increases in waste disposal and green procurement costs· Operate workplace waste separation and recycling systems· Establish green procurement standards and expand purchases of eco-friendly products· Monitor resource circulation performance and operate a management system
RiskBiodiversityLMMGrowing ecosystem conservation requirements and stakeholder expectations for biodiversity▶ Current: Operating costs from biodiversity protection activities▶ Projected: Potential expansion of ecosystem conservation activities and related management costs· Participate in biodiversity initiatives and strengthen stakeholder collaboration· Conduct community-based ecosystem conservation and restoration activities· Expand biodiversity conservation and operate employee participation-based awareness programs
OpportunityGreen ConstructionMMHGrowing demand for specialized construction that meets low-carbon and eco-friendly standards(e.g., interiors, electrical systems, and fire protection)▶ Current: More public- and private-sector project contracts▶ Projected: Higher revenue from new businesses focused on green construction methods· Proactively identify and pursue projects requiring certification· Secure low-carbon construction capabilities and expand their application· Expand green revenue based on a green logistics system
